    BcMag™ Ion Exchange Magnetic Beads

Amerigo Scientific offers a wide range of BcMag™ ion exchange magnetic beads that are uniform, silica-coated superparamagnetic beads for quick fractionation of proteins or peptides from complex biological samples such as serum and plasma manually or automatically.

A charged protein or peptide binds to an oppositely charged matrix. BcMag™ WAX magnetic beads or BcMag™ SAX magnetic beads should be selected if the isoelectric point (pI) of the target protein or peptide is below the pH of the buffer. If the pI of the target protein or peptide is above the pH of the buffer, BcMag™ WCX magnetic beads or BcMag™ SCX magnetic beads should be selected.

    BcMag™ Affinity Magnetic Beads

Magnetic affinity chromatography is a unique separation tool in biochemistry, clinical chemistry, environmental testing, and pharmaceutical science. It has been widely used for quick and efficient purification and analysis of compounds from complex biological samples with minimal nonspecific adsorption.

Amerigo Scientific offers a variety of affinity magnetic beads with reactive functional groups that can be used to covalently conjugate almost any custom ligands. Short- and long- arm magnetic beads are available.

    Affinity Purification StepsAffinity Purification Steps

The interaction between a ligand and its complementary macromolecule depends significantly on the length of a linker, since a suitable linker length provides an optimal distance from the bead surface. Long-arm magnetic beads can be used to couple low molecular weight ligands, while both short- and long- arm magnetic beads can be used for conjugation of high molecular weight ligands. In addition, coupling conditions including pH, temperature, and buffer may influence the ligand stability and coupling efficiency. For different applications, the selection of appropriate magnetic bead type is crucial for the success of affinity purification.
