    Crown Ether Chiral Columns

A number of chiral selectors for chiral stationary phases (CSPs) have been developed and applied for enantiomer separation. Among chiral selectors, crown ethers are macrocyclic polyethers capable of forming host-guest complexes, which can bind certain cations (such as alkali ions or protonated primary amines) with high selectivity and affinity. Thus, CSPs based on crown ethers are suitable to separate chiral compounds containing primary amines. Amerigo Scientific provides HPLC columns packed with chiral crown ether CSPs.

    CROWNPAK® CR(+) / CR(-) Columns

The CSPs in CROWNPAK®CR(+) and CR(-) columns are 5μm silica support coated with crown ether derivatives for the separation of chiral amino acids and other small molecules containing a primary amine group on the chiral center.

    CROWNPAK® CR-I(+) / CR-I(-) Columns

CROWNPAK®CR-I(+) and CR-I(-) columns are packed with 5μm silica gel immobilized with crown ether derivatives, expanding the solvent range used as the mobile phase and enhancing the enantioselectivity for chiral compounds.

    Ion-exchange Chiral Columns

Ion-exchange chromatography is mainly used to separate ionizable compounds such as peptides, proteins, and nucleotides. Ion-exchange CSPs are generally classified into weak anion-exchange CSPs, strong cation exchange CSPs, and zwitterionic ion-exchange CSPs. Compared with the anion-exchange and cation-exchange CSPs, the zwitterionic ion-exchange CSPs have greatly broadened scope of applications and are not limited to the identification of singly-charged enantiomers. Amerigo Scientific offers chiral HPCL columns based on ion-exchange CSPs with high separation efficiency.

    Anion Exchange Chiral Columns

CHIRALPAK® QN-AX and CHIRALPAK® QD-AX are weak anion-exchange CSPs based on complementary quinine (QN) and quinidine (QD) derivatives as chiral selectors. They are designed for the separation of chiral acids, such as N-derived amino acids and phenols. Amerigo Scientific provides HPLC columns packed with CHIRALPAK® QN-AX or CHIRALPAK® QD-AX CSPs for enantiomeric selective separation of chiral acids. These columns have exceptional enantiomer separation ability for chiral acidic compounds containing carboxylic, phosphoric, phosphoric or sulfonic acid groups. In some cases, weakly acidic compounds such as phenols can also be separated by these columns.

Product Name Chiral Stationary Phase Particle Size

    Zwitterionic Ion Exchange Chiral Columns

Amino acids play a crucial role in human nutrition and are important tools for drug discovery and active pharmaceutical ingredient production. Most amino acids are chiral and contain a stereogenic carbon to which the amino group is attached. The analysis of composition and enantiomeric purity of amino acids is essential in many fields. CHIRALPAK® ZWIX(+) / ZWIX(-) stationary phases are supports that incorporate anion- and cation-exchange functional groups. In CHIRALPAK ZWIX(+) CSPs, quinine is fused with (S,S)-ACHSA, whereas in CHIRALPAK ZWIX(-) CSPs, quinidine is fused with (R,R) -ACHSA to form the chiral selector. Both chiral selectors are chemically bound to 3μm silica gel.

Amerigo Scientific provides chiral columns that are packed with CHIRALPAK®ZWIX(+) or ZWIX(-) stationary phase for the separation of zwitterionic molecules such as underprotonated amino acids and small peptides.

Product Name Chiral Stationary Phase Particle Size
CHIRALPAK® ZWIX(+) / ZWIX(-) ZWIX(+): (S,S)-ACHSA(*) combined with quinine immobilized to silica gel
ZWIX(-): (R,R)-ACHSA(*) combined with quinidine immobilized to silica gel

    Ligand Exchange Chiral Columns

CHIRALPAK®WH stationary phase consists of amino acid derivatives bound to silica support with particle size of 10μm. Amerigo Scientific offers columns packed with CHIRALPAK®WH CSPs for the separation of α-amino acids and other acidic chiral molecules. Since these columns are ligand-exchange type columns, the standard mobile phase is aqueous CuSO4 solution (0.1-2 mM). CHIRALPAK®WH columns can tolerate organic modifiers, such as methanol and acetonitrile, according to the specifications in the instruction manual.

    Polymethacrylate Chiral Columns

CHIRALPAK® OP(+) / OT(+) stationary phases are 10μm silica support coated with chiral synthetic methacrylate polymers. Amerigo Scientific offers CHIRALPAK® OP(+) / OT(+) HPLC columns, which are used with 100% methanol as the mobile phase. The polymer in the CHIRALPAK OT (+) column is very delicate and is slowly degraded by alcohols. To avoid this phenomenon, we recommend to run analyses using this column at low temperatures (0°C - 5°C).

Product Name Chiral Stationary Phase Particle Size
CHIRALPAK® OP(+) Poly(diphenyl-2-pyridylmethyl methacrylate) coated on silica gel 10 μm
CHIRALPAK® OT(+) Poly(triphenylmethyl methacrylate) coated on silica gel 10 μm
