UniSil® hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) silica gel is a new generation of HILIC media developed through unique surface passivation and bonding technologies with multiple functions such as hydrophilic, separation and distribution. Moreover, solutions containing up to 60% H2O can be used as the mobile phase of the medium.

Many high polarity substances have too weak retentivity in reversed-phase chromatography to be separated (k≈0), but can be easily separated using hydrophilic interaction chromatography. Compared to reversed silica gel, UniSil® HILIC silica gel is a better choice for highly polar and hydrophilic molecules, especially strongly alkaline chemicals, with a high proportion of volatile mobile phases that can improve the sensitivity of LC-MS.

Applications

UniSil® HILIC silica gels are especially suitable for separation of highly polar molecules that are typical challenges for convention reversed phase chromatography.

  • HILIC-T - separation of oligosaccharides, glycine and chemicals with similar molecule
  • HILIC-2M - separation of melamine, streptomycin and chemicals with similar molecule
  • Amide - separation of stevioside and chemicals with similar molecules
