  • Ultrapure water is artificially cleaned water that has been purified to high level of specifications through rigorous treatment. Ultrapure water is free of minerals and impurities, and therefore has a neutral pH and poor electrical conductivity. Due to its high purity, ultrapure water is a key reagent in many highly sensitive scientific applications and is also essential for industries. The primary industries using ultrapure water include electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical industries.

In the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, ultrapure water plays a vital role and is used in the development and production of drugs, cleaning laboratories or medical equipment, and preparing reagents, media and solutions. In the food and beverage industry, ultrapure water is used in applications with high water quality requirements, such as the production of dairy products, soft drinks, and beer, as trace amounts of contaminants can also compromise product quality and safety. Ultrapure water can also be used to clean and rinse semiconductors and printed circuit boards to remove contaminants that can affect performance. In addition, ultra-pure water is essential in many chemical synthesis processes, ensuring the high purity of chemical products. In the power generation industry, ultrapure water is used for steam generation and used as boiler feed. The ultrapure water prevents scaling and corrosion in boilers and turbines, thereby increasing efficiency, reducing downtime, and extending the life of expensive equipment.

Monojet™ Resins for Ultrapure Water Production

Gel-type resin, also known as microporous resin, has a dense internal structure without discrete pores. Since there are no discrete pores, solute ions diffuse thorough the particle to interact with exchange sites. Despite the diffusion limitation on the reaction rate, gel-type resins are less fragile, react faster in functionalization and application reactions, and have a higher loading capacity compared with macroporous resins. Gel-type ion exchange resins are commonly used for water treatment.

Amerigo Scientific provides high-quality gel-type Monojet™ resins for production of ultrapure water, especially for the polishing stage of ultrapure water. Monojet™ resins with a very good uniformity of particle size are manufactured using proprietary jetting technology. High-purity silica-free demineralized water with resistivity higher than 18MΩ-cm can be produced by using the Monojet® ultrapure water grade resins.
