A living sample begins to change the moment it leaves its original environment, and the schedule around it is usually built to accommodate that decay. Amerigo Scientific provides hydrogel encapsulation range that holds the sample in a stable, protective matrix so the sample can be stored and shipped at hypothermic or ambient temperature and remain fit for downstream work on arrival. Depending on sample type, the working window extends from hours to somewhere between 3 days and 2 weeks. Our product lines store samples of whole blood, leukapheresis material, suspension cells, viral vectors, tissue biopsies, organoids, and cells growing in multi-well plates. Each line is formulated with a dedicated formulation. All raw ingredients are manufactured to GMP guidelines and ISO 13485 standards, which makes the same products translatable from research into regulated applications.

The Patented Hydrogel Technology
The series of products based on patented hydrogel technology can extend the storage time of biological samples under hypothermic conditions resulting in a consistently high yield, viability, and function for longer. The plant-based hydrogels are derived from brown seaweed. They are pharmaceutical grade high purity alginates which are highly characterized and consistent. Alginate formulations have been optimized specifically for cell storage and protocols streamlined for ease of use and scalability. Upon exposure of the liquid non-cross-linked alginate to free cations, gelation occurs encapsulating the sample. When required the sample can be quickly released through the addition of a salt-based buffer in a simple cell-friendly process.
The patented hydrogel technology is proven to stabilize these models both biologically and physically during storage and shipment with its protective gel layers. Cells, tissues, or viruses are encapsulated by the alginate gel which stabilizes lipid membrane integrity during hypothermic storage. Excess ion and water diffusion into the cell is quenched preventing membrane deterioration over time. This keeps the cells alive and in a state of "hibernation" allowing them to be safely stored and/or shipped for extended periods of time. When required they are quickly "awoken" upon return to physiological temperatures in the same state they entered. This is a more environmentally conscious approach to cell preservation, reducing reliance on carbon-intensive cryopreservation methods.
Whole Blood and Leukapheresis Material
BloodReady™ for the encapsulation of whole blood in a simple, scalable vial format
BloodReady™ encapsulates whole blood sample by simply adding a gel concentrate and transferring to a vial containing gelation beads. After a few minutes, the whole blood and gel mixture will gel in situ and is ready for storage or shipment. When ready to use, a gentle Dissolution Buffer is added to dissolve the gel, the beads are filtered out, and the whole blood sample is ready to use.
| Product Name | Designed for Blood Volume |
|---|---|
| BloodReady™ Blood Sample Preservation (0.5ml) | 0.5 ml |
| BloodReady™ Blood Sample Preservation (1 ml) | 1 ml |
| BloodReady™ Blood Sample Preservation (3 ml) | 3 ml |
| BloodReady™ Blood Sample Preservation (5 ml) | 5 ml |
| BloodReady™ Blood Sample Preservation (10 ml) | 10 ml |
BloodReady™ addresses the case where the research site and the analysis laboratory sit in different locations and immune cells must remain functional throughout the journey.
- Preserve whole blood sample for up to 3 days.
- Extend the stability of fresh whole blood from hours to days, allowing flexible transportation, processing, and analysis.
- Preserve all leukocyte populations and cellular markers, without the need for fixation or cryopreservation.
LeukoStor™ for leukapheresis material in blood bags
LeukoStor™ is formulated for leukapheresis material and works inside standard blood bags rather than vials, which keeps it compatible with existing apheresis handling. Mix a gel concentrate with leukapheresis material and transfer to a bag containing gelation beads. After waiting a few minutes apheresis material will gel in situ and is ready for storage or shipment. Adding a gentle release buffer causes the gel to dissolve, releasing the apheresis material ready to use.
Fresh apheresis material remains viable at room temperature for at least 5 days. For cell and gene therapy programmes, those 5 days translate into a wider geographical radius between collection sites and manufacturing facility, and more scheduling room at the point where slot availability usually dictates the timeline.
| Product Name | Designed for Apheresis Volume |
|---|---|
| LeukoStor™ Leukapheresis Preservation for Apheresis Volumes of 10mL | 10 ml |
| LeukoStor™ Leukapheresis Preservation for Apheresis Volumes of 30mL | 30 ml |
| LeukoStor™ Leukapheresis Preservation for Apheresis Volumess of 70mL | 70 ml |
Suspension Cells and Viral Vectors
CytoStor™ suits workflows where suspension cells, virus stocks, or vector preparations need to be stored or transported and remain ready for immediate use on arrival. CytoStor™ encapsulates cells in suspension in a simple, scalable vial format. One formulation covers a broad range of cell types along with viruses and viral vectors, and it holds them at hypothermic temperatures, keeping material immediately available for use. Two capacities are available, sized for research quantities and for larger process development batches.

The features of CytoStor™ include:
- Preserve a broad range of cell types and viruses for up to 2 weeks.
- Move samples across the world whilst maintaining viability, phenotype and function.
- Cells can be easily encapsulated, shipped and released cost-effectively.
Tissue and Biopsy Samples
Both TissueReady™ and TissueReady™ PLUS encapsulate tissues for storage at hypothermic temperature, keeping tissue architecture and cell viability intact for downstream histology, culture, and molecular work. Three sizes across both products accommodate everything from needle biopsies to larger resections.
TissueReady™ is designed for the encapsulation of small tissues and microtissues with a medium of choice, which suits established protocols where the medium forms part of the experimental design. TissueReady™ PLUS is designed for the encapsulation of small tissues, biopsies and tissue resections. It includes a ready-to-use gel, prediluted with a recommended medium for optimal tissue preservation.

The features of STORganoid™ include:
- Preserve organoids and spheroids at ambient temperature for up to 10 days.
- Ship ready-to-use organoids and spheroids worldwide.
- Maintain performance, reproducibility and scientific integrity.
In-Plate Preservation for Adherent Cells and 3D Models
WellReady™ preserves adherent cells, cell models, organoids, and 3D structures inside the plate they were grown in. The plate is the shipping container and the assay vessel at the same time, so the receiving laboratory can read it directly rather than re-plating and waiting for cells to recover. That matters most for assay-ready plates going out to partners, for work where the plate crosses an organizational boundary, and for multi-site studies where plate-to-plate consistency drives the data.
WellReady™ muti-well plates can achieve the following functions:
- Preserve cell monolayers and complex 3D models in a range of plate formats.
- Physically protect fragile models during shipping.
- Send ready-to-use assays directly to customers or collaborators.
Cell Encapsulation for Imaging and Co-Culture
BeadReady™ applies the same hydrogel chemistry to a different purpose. It encapsulates cells in suspension within hydrogel beads and holds them in position, which makes it a working tool for imaging and co-culture rather than a storage and shipping product. Immobilized cells stay in the focal plane across a time course. In co-culture, beads keep populations physically separate while allowing soluble factors to pass between them.
| Product Name | Format |
|---|---|
| BeadReady™ Cell Suspension Preservation | Hydrogel beads |
BeadReady™ is suitable for applications where suspended or adherent cells need to remain in the correct position, whether for imaging purposes or for co-culture and clear separation.
- Preserve a broad range of cell types.
- Image cells in 3D within a fully transparent hydrogel.
- Perfect for co-culture due to optimal mass transfer properties.
