Amerigo Scientific provides Digitail™ radio frequency identification (RFID) system and Labstamp® permanent visual tail tattooing system to efficiently and accurately identify and track laboratory rodents. Designed to prioritize animal welfare, our systems eliminate tag migration and streamlines workflows, reducing animal handling time.
Digitail™ features ultra-compact, bio-inert RFID tags that are easily implanted via a 21-gauge needle without the need for anesthesia or sutures. Labstamp® provides durable, cage-side readable tattoos in under 30 seconds, ensuring fast and reliable visual confirmation.
Digitail™ offers a laboratory rodent identification system using the world's smallest radio RFID tag. The Digitail™ RFID tag delivers a reliable read distance of up to 5 cm and is easy to implant. Even novice technicians can complete the operation with ease. Digitail™ tags do not require large-gauge needles or deep implantation. They are designed to remain securely in place without migration or side effects, providing a safe and practical alternative that supports animal welfare and efficient laboratory workflows.

Attach a pre-packaged and sterilized needle cartridges (with the tag in the needle) to a reusable syringe. Remove the protective needle guard, then insert the needle into the tail tissue, about 10mm away from the base of the tail. Once the needle is inserted up to the 9mm mark on the needle, press the injection button, and the needle will retract, leaving the tag in place for immediate reading. This small gauge needle and injection position form a self-sealing entry point, so there is no need for wound closure treatment.
The Digitail™ RFID tags and readers are all compatible with the injector pen to produce a complete system.

| Digitail™ Animal ID Injector | The injector pen consists of a reusable handheld unit and single-use disposable cartridge. Through a 21-gauge needle, the Digitail™ Tag is implanted quickly and relatively painlessly into the rodent's tail. |
| Digitail™ Mouse Tail Vein Injection Restraint | The compact device is used to safely restrain a mouse while the RFID tag is implanted, or for maximum access to the tail for biopsy or vein injections. |
| Digitail™ Benchtop Reader | The benchtop reader is equipped with the free LinkTo application to identify and manage Digitail™ Tag. |
| Digitail™ Wearable Reader | The wearable reader can be worn on the wrist or neck and is an ideal choice for mobile and wireless data management. |
| Digitail™ Handheld Reader | The handheld reader can be wirelessly connected to the data system via Bluetooth, making data collection faster and more convenient. |

The Digitail™ Tag is only 6mm long, 0.5mm wide and only 0.25mm high. At only 0.75mm in volume (16 times less than glass transponders), Digitail™ Tag requires only a 21-gauge needle to implant. The tag comes with a pre-existing, permanent 24-character, unique ID and can be read by any compatible UHF reader, as it is ISO 18000-6c compliant. Every tag is coated in Parylene C so it is completely bio-inert and is ideal for use with any strain of mouse or rat, including immune-deficient or compromised strains.
Ultra-Compact & Unique Design: Digitail™ Tags are significantly smaller in dimension and volume than any other alternative RFID tags on the market.
Simplified Implantation Process: Designed specifically for tail injection rather than body implantation.
Superior Stability & Precision: Because the tag is placed in the tail, the location is always predictable and the tag will not migrate to other parts of the body.
Enhanced Animal Welfare: Broadly approved by IACUC and Ethics committees. The simple subcutaneous injection is less invasive than the intraperitoneal (IP) injections required by other transponders.
High Research Compatibility: Tags contain no ferrite or ferrous materials, making them fully compatible with MRI and other imaging systems. Also, the tag is in the tail will not interfere with any cell implant sites or research focused on the head and torso.
The Digitail™ identification system can be combined with the Labstamp® tail tattoo system to create a powerful combination of visual and digital identification. A distinct and permanent tail tattoo can be formed using the Labstamp® system to allow easy visual identification. Tattoos are readable from outside the cage and RFIDs can be read through glass or plastic materials. Both methods utilize safe restraint equipment to minimize the trauma of excessive handling.
The Labstamp® system includes the tail tattooing equipment and only requires minimal training to implement. It is an ideal alternative to less efficient identification methods. Accurate visual identification directly helps with the accuracy and integrity of scientific research.
