Ion-exchange chromatography (IEX) is a widely used chromatographic method for separating and purifying various types of biological molecules. The separation technology is based on the charge properties and charge quantity of these molecules in a specific buffer system. In the process of capturing target molecules as well as the intermediate purification and polishing of the target biomolecule, the IEX media have the following characteristics:
Amerigo Scientific provides a wide range of Seplife® IEX resins, which are porous spherical media with ion-exchange functional groups and polymer backbone matrix. According to the nature of the functional groups, Seplife® IEX resins are classified as strong acid cation exchange, weak acid cation exchange, strong base anion exchange, and weak base anion exchange.
Type of IEX Resin | Functional Group | Product Model |
Strong acid cation exchange | Sulfonate | SP |
Weak acid cation exchange | Carboxymethyl | CM |
Strong base anion exchange | Quaternary ammonium salt | Q |
Weak base anion exchange | Diethylaminoethyl | DEAE |
In addition, we also offer polymethylacrylate (LXPM) IEX resins and uniform-size polystyrene (LXMS) IEX resins.
The Seplife® agarose IEX resins can be classified into two main categories, namely the 6AG series and the Large Scale series. Both series contain resins with different particle sizes, functional groups, and capacities.
The Seplife® 6AG agarose resins contain 6% highly cross-linked agarose. Through specific methods, ion exchange functional ligands with different properties are covalently bonded to the agarose matrix, thereby endowing the resins with excellent IEX characteristics.
The Seplife® Large Scale agarose resins are based on matrix beads with high mass transfer performance. Depending on the different particle sizes, the products of this series are further divided into high-rigidity resins (model: Large Scale) and high-rigidity and high-resolution resins (model: Large Scale HP).

Seplife® synthetic polymer IEX resins with the robust polystyrene or polymethacrylate backbone are suitable for the efficient treatment of various molecules ranging from small molecules to large molecules. These resins are ideal tools for key separation of biological molecules.
Seplife® LXPM Resins: They are a type of polymethyl methacrylate IEX resins, which are made using a unique polymer synthesis technology. Their surfaces are modified with hydrophilic long-chain macromolecules and coupled with different ion-exchange groups. Due to their good hydrophilicity, chemical and physical stability, as well as a robust structure, Seplife® LXPM resins have good biocompatibility and service life, enabling improved purification efficiency.
Seplife® LXMS Resins: They are a type of polystyrene IEX resins with uniform particle size. The highly cross-link property enables the resins to withstand high operating pressure (3MPa).
Seplife® polymeric IEX resins have the characteristics of high consistency and reliability, maintaining stability throughout the pH range (0 to 14) and performing well under most solvent conditions. Both Seplife® LXMS resin and Seplife® LXPM resin are suitable for the capture of molecules such as antibodies, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, antibiotics and natural products, as well as for intermediate purification and fine purification applications.
