Fascin is a 55-kd actin bundling protein involved in cell migration. Fascin is up-regulated in manyhuman carcinomas and numerous studies have correlated Fascin over-expression with increasedmetastatic potential. Fascin is highly sensitive for staining Reed-Sternberg cells making it an excellentmarker for classic Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is uniformly negative in lymphoid cells, plasma cells andmyeloid cells. is positive in dendritic cells. This marker may be helpful in distinguishingbetween Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in difficult cases.
