Seplife® EMC7528 is a highly cross-linked acrylate carrier functionalized with octadecyl groups and has the appearance of white spherical beads. The particle size distribution is 400-1000 micron. The resin is highly hydrophobic and has a porous structure combined with a very high surface area which is ideal for immobilization of enzymes by adsorption. Octadecyl acrylate are ideal enzyme carriers for hydrophobic adsorption of enzymes as lipases and transaminases. Upon adsorption on octadecyl carriers the immobilized enzyme can be dried and used in organic solvents or fats and oils transformations. The great advantage of immobilization by adsorption is the very high enzyme activity, the possibility to use on water free systems and the very simple immobilization method. The resin is mechanically very strong and can be used in either stirred tank or bed reactor.
The high cross-linking of the resin ensures extremely high mechanical stability thus allowing the possibility to recycle the immobilized enzyme for many cycles.
