      • Overview
        • Plant Protoplasts Isolation Kit provides a simple and rapid enzymatic method to digest cell walls of plants, especially Arabidopsis thaliana, and release a large amount of biologically active protoplasts. The protoplasts isolated using this kit can be used for plasmid DNA transfection and protoplast fusion studies, etc.

Protoplasts are living plant cells without cell walls. Plant cell wall primarily consists of cellulose, hemicellulose and pectin. It can be digested with appropriate enzymes to release protoplasts without cell walls. Protoplasts are important materials for a variety of studies such as transient gene expression, viral transfection, somatic hybridization, electrophysiological and morphological studies, plant subcellular localization, protein activity analysis, and protein-protein interactions.

      • Properties
        • Storage
Store the kit at -20°C,with a shelf-life of 1 year at least. Enzyme Mix can be stored at 4°C for a long period of time and other components can be stored at 4°C for several days without any change of their performance. For continuous use within a few days, all components can be stored at 4°C.
          Note
The cell wall digestion solution must be prepared freshly.
All reagents should be thawed and mixed thoroughly prior to use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
2X Digest Buffer and Resuspension Buffer should be stored in aliquots and handled aseptically to avoid microbial contaminations.
If the protoplasts is going to be incubated for a longer period time, such as after transfection, they must be handled aseptically.
For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during the operation.
