Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride is an anti-cancer agent used chemotherapeutically for leukemias and solid tumors. It has immunosuppressive activity and inhibits proliferation of lymphocytes and induces apoptosis of antigen-presenting T-cells. The compound is sparingly soluble in water.

Background
Mitoxantrone inhibits division of T-cells, B-cells, and macrophages by preventing DNA repair and synthesis, however, this also occurs in healthy cells. It is a cytostatic anthracenedione that induces double-strand breaks in DNA.
