Hydrophilic lubricating coating solutions are primarily composed of hydrophilic polymers. Through dip coating followed by light curing or thermal curing, the solution can form a hydrophilic lubricating coating on the surfaces of catheters, guidewires, and other instruments or consumables.
The coating contains hydrophilic groups that can absorb water and form a hydrated surface layer. This surface characteristic is intended to reduce interfacial friction when coated instruments or consumables are used in fluid-containing environments or cavities.
The coating is designed to adhere to the substrate and maintain its coating integrity when exposed to water.
Coating Characteristics
• Uniform coating formation
• Hydrophilic lubricating surface
• Coefficient of friction: <0.03
• Adhesion / durability: coefficient of friction remains <0.03 after 20 cycles of reciprocating friction
Compatible Substrates
• Hydrophilic lubricating coatings have been prepared on instruments and consumables made from PPEK, TPU, PE, PEBAX, PVC, or LDPE.
• For the tested coated substrates, the coating reduced interfacial friction, with a reported coefficient of friction of <0.03.Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
