Background
Human FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3-ligand) is a cytokine that synergizes with other CSFs and interleukins to induce proliferation and differentiation of early hematopoietic cells. Human Flt3-ligand cDNA encodes a 235 amino acid residue precursor protein that is cleaved to yield mature human Flt-3 ligand, which consists of a 158 amino acid (aa) extracellular domain (ECD) with a cytokine-like domain and a juxtamembrane tether region, a 21 aa transmembrane segment, and a 30 aa cytoplasmic tail. Recombinant human flt3-ligand is a soluble 17.6 kDa polypeptide containing 155 amino acid residues, which comprises the extracellular domain of the transmembrane flt3-ligand protein.
