- P27, also known as cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B (CDNK1B), is a kinase inhibitor that controlscell cycle progression.1-4 p27 is involved in G1 phase arrest and obstructs cell entry into the S phaseby binding to and inhibiting cyclin E-CDK2, effectively slowing or stopping the cell division cycle.1-4 p27is broadly expressed in normal tissue but can be dysfunctional in neoplastic tissue and, therefore, notexpressed.
