ALDH3A1 is a protein encoded by the ALDH3A1 gene which is approximately 50, 3 kDa. ALDH3A1 is localised to the cytoplasm and is involved in drug metabolism and tyrosine metabolism. It plays a major role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde and is involved in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation. ALDH3A1 is expressed at high levels in stomach, oesophagus and lung and low levels in the liver and kidney. Mutations in the ALDH3A1 gene may result in Sjogren-Larsson syndrome and breast adenocarcinoma. STJ96390 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of ALDH3A1 protein.
