    • Overview
      • Aldehyde-based heparin is a functional heparin derivative developed for surface modification of blood-contacting device components. Aldehyde groups are introduced onto the heparin molecular chain through controlled mild oxidative degradation. These reactive groups may enable covalent attachment of heparin to suitably prepared device surfaces.

The material and related coating process are intended for use in the research, development, and manufacturing of surface-modified blood-contacting medical-device components. The resulting heparin-containing surface layer is designed to support the development of anticoagulant and blood-compatible interfaces.

Aldehyde-based heparin material is produced in a Class 10,000 cleanroom environment under an ISO 13485 quality management system.

        Material Specifications
        • Aldehyde content: 1.2–2.9 × 10⁻⁴ mmol/mg
        • Anti-Factor Xa activity: ≥70 IU/mg

        Coating Characteristics
        • Designed to form a uniform heparin-containing coating on appropriately treated substrates
        • Reactive aldehyde groups may facilitate covalent immobilization of heparin at the substrate interface
        • Suitable for development and process validation on selected blood-contacting material surfaces, including expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), TPU, PEBAX, and PVC
        • In vitro testing showed a thrombus-related surface deposition reduction of up to 99% under the specified test conditions
        • In a simulated in vitro circulation test, the coating retained nearly 90% of its measured activity after one month under the specified test conditions

        Application Statement
        • This product is supplied as a functional coating material for research, development, process evaluation, and manufacturing applications. It is intended to support surface modification of blood-contacting device components and related material interfaces.

Coating performance may vary depending on the substrate material, surface pretreatment, coating parameters, device geometry, sterilization process, storage conditions, and final use conditions. Users should conduct appropriate coating-process validation, material characterization, biocompatibility assessment, and regulatory evaluation for the finished device or final product.
