1-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)-3-(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)thiourea is a thiourea derivative synthesized from 1,3-thiazole. The 1,3-thiazoles are an important group of compounds due to their wide range of applications in biopharma. The thioureas have been described as the most useful class of agents, with a large number of activities including antiviral, antibacterial, and lipoprotein (HDL)-elevating properties. The compound is active against Gram-positive cocci and Mycobacteria. It has been found to inhibit biofilm formation in wild type and methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus epidermidis.
