      • Overview
        • Shinwasorb is a completely new porous silica gas chromatography support which, while possessing characteristics similar to white diatomaceous earth supports including appearance, physical strength, and heat resistance, has done away with the problems common to diatomaceous earth supports.
Shinwasorb-S consists of Shinwasorb-U treated with dimethyldichlorosilane (DMCS), and is equivalent to AW-DMCS diatomaceous earth supports.

          Features of Shinwasorb
          1. Chemically synthesized support, meaning that there are no variations between lots
As Shinwasorb is a chemically synthesized product, it does not display variations between lots, a problem which is common to diatomaceous earth supports.
          2. Very few mesopores, resulting in almost no adsorption of samples
There are almost no micro- and mesopores present on the surfaces of Shinwasorb particles, with the result that peak tailing due to sample adsorption in pores does not occur.
          3. Does not contain heavy metals
Shinwasorb does not contain heavy metals, meaning that sample adsorption and decomposition do not occur.
          4. Superior physical strength, and almost no generation of fine particles
Shinwasorb possesses superior physical strength, and can be used without worrying about the generation of fine particles.
          5. Possesses a uniform surface structure, as well as a specific surface area equivalent to or greater than diatomaceous earth supports
The surfaces of Shinwasorb particles possess macropores with uniform pore diameters, and Shinwasorb possesses a specific surface area equivalent to or greater than diatomaceous earth supports. Due to the uniform surface structure of Shinwasorb, uniform stationary phase coating thicknesses can be achieved, allowing for sharp and highly symmetrical peaks.
          6. Can be coated with a wide range of stationary phases
The main component of Shinwasorb is silicon dioxide. Shinwasorb can be coated with a wide variety of different stationary phases in the same manner as diatomaceous earth supports.
