As a ceramic material, pyrolitic boron nitride is quite fragile in a lot of cases. The PBN sheets are usually hold in plastic bags by vacuum, and protect with heavy foam.
Amerigo Scientific supplies pyrolitic boron nitride sheet, which is produced using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. This process creates a solid body with boron nitride crystals growing parallel to the surface on which the vapor is deposited. However, due to the nature of the CVD process, thick-walled products (>3mm) are not typically available.
PBN is an excellent choice for applications requiring extremely high purity boron nitride. The purity of the gas material used in the CVD process (BCl3 + NH3 --> BN +HCl) is significantly higher than that of regular boron nitride powder, resulting in a typical grade purity of 99.99%. PBN's high purity, high mechanical strength, and resistance to molten metals and salts make it an ideal material for high vacuum processes. Due to its high thermal conductivity and lack of a melting point, pyrolitic materials are well-suited for use as vacuum furnace parts. The CVD process gives PBN a nearly perfect lattice structure, resulting in anisotropic thermal conductivity. As a result, PBN is an ideal material for making crucibles for crystal growing.
Amerigo Scientific offers pyrolitic boron nitride (PBN) sheets that are available in various thicknesses, including 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm. These sheets are cut from PBN sheets with diameters ranging from 10 to 14 inches. The size of the raw material PBN is limited by the size of the equipment used, but the finished PBN products can be machined to highly customized shapes with competitive costs. We are committed to providing high-quality PBN sheets that meet the unique needs of our customers. Our experienced team of professionals can work with customers to develop customized solutions that meet their specific requirements. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
