Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA; syn. Cyclin) is a co-factor of DNA polymerase delta, forms homotrimers around double stranded DNA, and is involved in DNA replication and repair. Since its expression rate correlates with the rate of DNA replication, PCNA is a proliferation marker in basic research.
