- Overview
  - Ofloxacin hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It binds to DNA gyrase, interfering with the supercoiling activity and therefore blocking DNA synthesis. It is used in microbial susceptibility testing against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and direct antibiotic treatment. It is added in VTM at the concentration of 60 mg/L to prevent microbial contamination of the sample.
