- Overview
  - Losartan potassium and its active metabolite E3174, is used in hypertension treatment for its vasoconstrictor activity in vascular smooth muscle. Losartan and E3174 both act as noncompetitive antagonists and dock at the Angiotensin T1 receptor but E3174 has a 10-fold binding. In 2020 and 2021, losartan has been preliminarily tested in COVID-19 patients and resulted in lower mortality.
