- Overview
  - Fluocinolone acetonide is a fluorinated steroid acting as an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, thus preventing the production of nitric oxide and its effect on the vascular smooth muscles, resulting in reduced blood flow. Fluocinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid used in medicine for its anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive effects. Applied topically, it is prescribed by dermatologists to treat skin eczema, allergies, and psoriasis. In mice, fluocinolone acetonide has a proven tumour growth inhibiting activity.
