Background
Enramycin acts as a MurG inhibitor involved peptidoglycan synthesis in Gram-positive bacteria. MurG catalyzes the transglycosylation reaction in the last step of peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Inhibition of this step greatly compromises cell wall integrity leading to cell death by lysis.
