Camptothecin (CPT) is an alkaloid compound which exhibit anti-tumor activity. It is a DNA-topoisomerase I inhibitor whichprevents DNA relegation that results in DNA damage and subsequently induces apoptosis. Camptothecin is first isolated from the bark of Camptotheca acuminita (a traditional Chinese medicine usedfor cancer treatment) in 1966.
