β-Cyclodextrin is a cyclic oligosaccharide with 7 D-glucose residues which are α-1,4-linked. β-cyclodextrin is used in the food industry to encapsulate flavours and fragrances (Kfoury, 2016). β-cyclodextrin can increase the water solubility of compounds, such as curcumin; further, the cyclodextrin-curcumin complex also allows for a controlled, sustainable release in a wound healing study (Yoon, 2017).
