CD34 is a cell surface glycophosphoprotein expressed on human hematopoietic progenitor cells andcan be used for identifying blast cells. CD34 is a marker for vascular endothelial cells and has beenshown in literature to be highly sensitive for angiosarcomas and Kaposi's sarcomas. In addition, CD34is expressed in soft tissue tumors such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).
