Targets the 60 kDa latent membrane protein (LMP-1) encoded by the BNLF1 gene of theEpstein-Barr virus. There is cross-reactivity with Reed Sternberg cells of Hodgkin's disease. The Epstein-Barr virus is an important as a cause of Infectious mononucleosis and has been associated with oralcarcinomas.
