AR-beta3 is a protein encoded by the ADRB3 gene which is approximately 43, 5 kDa. AR-beta3 is localised to the cell membrane. It is involved in peptide ligand-binding receptors, activation of cAMP-dependent PKA, signalling by GPCR and DAG and IP3 signalling. It mediates catecholamine-induced activation of adenylate cyclase through the action of G proteins and is involved in the regulation of lipolysis and thermogenesis. AR-beta3 is expressed mainly in adipose tissue. Mutations in the ADRB3 gene may be involved in diabetes mellitus and obesity. STJ91728 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of AR-beta3 protein.
