Reacts with human alpha-V/ beta-3 integrin present on human endothelium cells. In cellmatrix adhesions, clustered integrins (each made up of a noncovalently linked alpha and beta subunit)bind to endothelium cell matrix (ECM) components via their globular head domains. They connect tothe actin cytoskeleton via adaptor proteins that bind their short cytoplasmic tails. Cell matrixadhesions also act as signalling units by their capacity to organize the actin cytoskeleton and toaccumulate various signaling intermediates. Integrin mediated adhesion regulates the actions of Rho-GTPases, which in turn affect cell-cell adhesion. The converse process can also take place: the activityof Rho-GTPases can be modulated by cadherins in adherens junctions. Besides mediating adhesion toECM components, integrins participate in the assembly of an ECM. Alpha-V/ beta-3 integrin is areceptor for cytotactin, fibronectin, laminin, matrix metalloproteinase-2, osteopontin, osteomodulin, prothrombin, thrombospondin, vitronectinand von Willebrand factor.
