Albendazole is an antihelminthic compound and is commonly used to treat parasitic worm infections including giardiasis, filariasis, hydatid disease, pinworm disease, ascariasis, and trichuriasis.

Background
Albendazole targets intestinal cells of parasitic worms and inhibits the polymerization of tubulin into microtubules which causes a reduced uptake of glucose ultimately diminishing the worm's glycogen stores.
