8-Hydroxyquinoline is an organic compound and a chelating that removes transition metals, alkali and alkaline cations from solutionsor within organisms. It is a monohydroxy quinoline that is formed by substitution of quinoline by a hydroxy group at position 8. It shows anti-cancer activity due to its ability to inhibit proteasome activity in tumor cells which can triggers apoptosis in tumor cells.
