      • Overview
        • 2-Naphthoxyacetic Acid (BNOA) is a synthetic auxin, a plant growth regulator used for control of preharvest fruit drop and root proliferation promotion. The compound inhibits auxin influx, and it can be used to regulate growth of many crop plants. It was first mentioned in 1938 by Irvine.

      • Applications
        • Application Description
Plant Biology Applications: 2-Naphthoxyacetic acid is used to regulate growth of fruit crops including tomatoes, apple, grape, and strawberries.
2-Naphthoxyacetic acid has been used to induce somatic embryogenesis in grapevine (Vitis vinifera) from stigma and style explants and somatic embryogenesis was induced 3-7 months after culture initiation (Carimi et al, 2005). It can also promote seed germination and early flowering in tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum) (Singh et al, 2003).
