Vancomycin Hydrochlorid, the hydrochloride salt of vancomycin, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with bactericidal activity against most organisms. It interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis via tight binding to the D-alanyl-D-alanine portion of cell wall precursors leading to the activation of bacterial autolysins and induction of cell wall lysis. Vancomycin also changes the permeability of bacterial cytoplasmic membranes and inhibits the RNA synthesis.
