Vanadium nitride is a hard, refractory ceramic material with high thermal and chemical stability, excellent wear resistance, and good electrical conductivity. These properties make it suitable for use in protective coatings, cutting tools, and high-temperature electronics. VN thin films can be deposited using techniques like reactive sputtering or chemical vapor deposition, enabling their integration into a variety of device structures. The materials ability to form stable, conductive interfaces with other semiconductors, as well as its potential for tunable electronic and optical properties, have also led to its investigation in the context of advanced electronic and optoelectronic applications, such as ohmic contacts, diffusion barriers, and optical coatings.
