Tetracycline hydrochloride is an antibiotic that has been widely studied to treat bacterial infections. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. Tetracycline hydrochloride is often used as a redox indicator for electron microscopy, where it can be used to detect electron transfer reactions on the surface of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes. The use of tetracycline hydrochloride in molecular modeling studies has also been shown to increase the efficiency of treatment against candida albicans and carboxymethyl chitosan.
