      • Overview
        • The synthetic Lin-28A mRNA expresses the full-length human protein lin-28 homolog A (LIN28A) when transfected into mammalian cells. The mRNA has a Cap-1 structure and a long polyA tail. It also has a 100% substitution of the modified nucleotide N1-Methylpseudouridine, which enhances the translation and reduces the innate antiviral response to single-stranded mRNA.

The Lin-28A gene encodes a LIN-28 family RNA-binding protein that acts as a posttranscriptional regulator of genes involved in developmental timing and self-renewal in embryonic stem cells. The encoded protein interacts with target mRNAs and disrupts the maturation of certain miRNAs involved in embryonic development. This protein binds to the let-7 pre-microRNA and inhibits the production of mature let-7 mRNA, major regulators of cellular growth and differentiation. Abnormal expression of the Lin-28A gene often associates with cancer progression in multiple tissues. Additionally, it regulates the translation of mRNAs that control developmental timing, pluripotency, and metabolism. Moreover, LIN-28 binds to and enhances the translation of IGF-2 (insulin-like growth factor-2) mRNA.
