Sultriecin is the dominant analogue in a family of triene antibiotics originally thought to be sulfate esters, but recently unequivocally proven to be phosphate esters. While re-naming of the compound as "phostriecin" may cause confusion with "fostriecin", it is now recognised that sultriecin is a phosphate ester of fostriecin. Sultriecin displays potent antifungal and antitumor activity.
