15x100mm petri plate contains a well (pill pocket) for the addition of a CO2 generating tablet (do not add water). The use of an AnaeroDisc (cat. no. AD100S) with each culture is highly recommended, in order to keep out oxygen that would degrade the hemolysins. The AnaeroDisc allows you to enhance the blood clearing activity of beta hemolytic Group A Strep and facilitates its rapid identification. Selective Strep Agar will inhibit most bacteria other than the Streps. This media is useful in isolating Group A Strep (Streptococcus pyogenes); Group B Strep (Streptococcus agalactiae); Groups C, F, and G; and pneumococci (Streptococcus pneumoniae).
