A 15 x 100mm biplate with one section for DTM (Dermatophyte Test Media) and the other section for Mycobiotic Agar. DTM will turn red within a few days when a dermatophytic fungus is present. Dermatophytes include Trichophyton spp., Microsporon spp., and Epidermophyton spp. Mycobiotic Agar is Sabouraud’s Dextrose Agar with inhibitors of bacteria and contaminating saprophytic fungi. Mycobiotic Agar is highly selective for dermatophytic fungi and will allow the microbiologist to observe the true color of the colonies, without the masking of the colony pigment, as with the DTM side.
An AnaeroDisc (cat. no. AS100M, order separately) on the Mycobiotic side is useful in transferring fungal elements from the culture to the microscope slide. Be sure to read the complete technical data sheet available below. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
