S-acetyl-PEG4-alcohol is a PEG derivative containing a sulfur acetyl group which can be deprotected to form thiol groups. The hydroxyl group can undergo various reactions to further derivatize the compound. The hydrophilic PEG linker increases the water solubility of the compound in aqueous media.
