Integrin receptor inhibitor.
RGDS peptide is a tetrapeptide found on fibronectin, fibrinogen, and von Willebrand factor, but not vitronectin or collagen. RGDS interacts with 51 and V3 integrins and interferes with the attachment of cells to fibronectin coated surfaces and also blocks the attachment of pathogens to cells. The interaction of RGDS peptide with cell surface integrins alters intracellular signalling in a cell and stimulus specific manner.
