The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 54.9 kDa after removal of the signal peptide. The apparent molecular mass of Trop2-mFc-His is approximately 55-70 kDa due to glycosylation. This intronless gene encodes a carcinoma-associated antigen. This antigen is a cell surface receptor that transduces calcium signals. Mutations of this gene have been associated with gelatinous drop-like corneal dystrophy.
