PI3K (p110d/p85a) is a member of the PI3K family that phosphorylates phosphoinositides on the 3-hydroxyl group of the inositol ring. PI3K (p110d/p85a) plays a role in oncogenic transformation, and is consistently expressed at a high level in blast cells from AML. PI3K (p110d/p85a) can play a selective role in the amplification of phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5) trisphosphate (PIP3) levels that lead to neutrophil polarization, and regulates directional migration, but not random locomotion. PI3K (p110d/p85a) signaling pathway is involved in immune responses relevant to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.
