PAX8 Human Recombinant produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 310 amino acids (1-287 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 33.4kDa. PAX8 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Paired box 8,also known as PAX8 functions in thyroid follicular cell development as well asin expression of thyroid-specific genes. PAX8 complexes with TTF-1 & TTF-2 inorder to stimulate thyroid follicular cell differentiation and thyroid hormonebiosynthesis by regulating the expression of NIS (sodium iodide symporter) , TPO (thyroidperoxidase), TG (thyroglobulin) and the TSHR (thyrotropin receptor). Defects in PAX8 are the cause of CHNG2 (congenitalhypothyroidism non-goitrous type 2).
