Ragweed (Ambrosia spp.) is an annual herbaceous plant, growing 20–150 cm in height. Its stem is erect, with a pyramidal branching at the upper part, ridged, and sparsely to densely covered with coarse hairs. The lower leaves are opposite with short petioles, bipinnately divided, with narrow lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate segments, entire margins, and prominent midribs; the upper surface is dark green, covered with short appressed hairs or nearly glabrous, and the lower surface is gray-green with dense short coarse hairs. The upper leaves are alternate, sessile, and pinnately divided.
Allergic symptoms of dwarf ragweed are caused by water-soluble proteins present in its pollen. Upon contact with humans, these proteins are rapidly released, triggering IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reactions. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
