Background

Common allergenic pollens include those from birch, cypress, toona, paulownia, and ash trees. From mid-March to April each year, most sensitizations are primarily caused by cypress pollen. Being evergreen, cypress trees often go unnoticed, yet they quietly flower in spring and release pollen into the air. Once the “cypress pollen season” ends, pollens from birch, ash, toona, and paulownia trees follow, all of which can trigger allergic reactions.
