Porcine Interleukin-1 Beta (IL-1b) Recombinant has been recombinantly produced in yeast and purified using ion-exchange chromatography. This is a lyophilized powder with a purity of greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
This product is endotoxin free, naturally folded, and post-translationally modified. This product can be used in cell culture, as an ELISA Standard, and as a Western Blot control. Interleukin-1 Beta is a member of the Interleukin 1 family of cytokines, a group that plays a part in regulating immune and inflammatory responses in the body. IL-1b is syntheszied as a precursor form protein following stimulation of innate immune cells by Toll-like receptors or RIG-like receptors. The IL-1b precursor needs to be cleaved by caspase-1 in order to induce binding abilities, and caspase needs to be activated by the inflammasome (mediated by sytoplasmic pattern recognition receptor signaling). As a result, the secretion of IL-1b is dependent on the necessary steps and activation of the appropriate receptors in order to become active itself.
