Background
NXY-059 is a newly synthesized used in the treatment of ischaemic stroke [1].NXY-059 has shown a significant differences in arterial Po2 and pH between the experimental groups before ischemia in BBB permeability study with Po2 value of 112.9±9.7mm Hg and pH value of 7.443±0.01. In addition, in rats, NXY-059 has been reported to significantly improve neurologic deficits at 24 hours when given at 6 hours of reperfusion. Besides, treatment with NXY-059 has been revealed to significantly ameliorate the brain damage. Thereby, the mean volumes of infarct and total damage are reduced to 9.2±14.8%（P<0.05） and 10.9±15.8%(P<0.01), respectively [1].
