MEM With HEPES is a Classic Basic Medium. Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) is a widely used and basic culture medium for animal cells that contains 12 essential amino acids, glutamine, and 8 vitamins; it is often used in the culture of adherent cells. The NEAA (non-essential amino acid) version of the MEM medium, which includes 7 non-essential amino acids (L-alanine, L-glutamic acid, L-asparagine, L-aspartic acid, L-proline, L-serine and glycine), can help reduce the side effects of non-essential amino acid production and promote cell proliferation and metabolism.
